Perioral dermatitis: home remedies and solutions

With perioral dermatitis, redness, small nodules or even vesicles appear around the nose and mouth. The rose in the mouth often causes discomfort in those affected, as the rash is seen as a visual flaw and the skin can also become tight. Below you will find home remedies that can help against perioral dermatitis. However, if you are unsure how to use it, it is better to consult a dermatologist.

  • Avoidance of care and cosmetics: In order to avoid further irritation of the skin, you should start a null therapy in case of an oral rose. This means that you do without any cleaning products, skin care, perfumes and make-up for at least six weeks. This allows the skin to recover from the rash.
  • Lukewarm water: When it comes to the treatment of oral rose, less is more. Only clean your face with lukewarm water and a microfiber cloth. Syndets, washing lotions with synthetically produced surfactants, from the pharmacy are also allowed.
  • No fragrances or fabric softeners: Wash your clothes and also your towels with products without fragrances and without fabric softeners. Also, change washcloths and towels regularly. Do not rub the towel on your face; rather dab it while drying it.
  • Zinc: Zinc is believed to be anti-inflammatory and helpful in fighting perioral dermatitis. Test the zinc ointment beforehand on an insensitive skin area to avoid further skin irritation.
  • Black tea: Compresses made from black tea stop the feeling of tension on the skin and at the same time have a drying effect on over-cared for skin areas. Dip a compress in cold black tea and leave it on the skin for 15 minutes before cleaning the face with clean water.
  • Healing earth: To remove excess sebum from the skin, you can use a healing earth mask once a week.
