Change to the dark side: is Facebook finally getting dark mode?

The Facebook app is one of the few social media apps that does not yet have dark mode. With this setting, users can change the app's interface and switch it from light to dark. The dark layout is very popular with users, it looks cool, consumes less battery and was even considered easier on the eyes for a long time. Unfortunately, the latter has been refuted. Either way: Facebook users have been looking forward to the dark mode option for a long time. And the latest update gives every reason to be hopeful. Because in the Facebook Lite app - a smaller version of the Facebook app, which was designed for areas with inconsistent internet access - it is now getting dark.

After Facebook Lite and Facebook Messenger: is Facebook also getting dark mode?

Facebook Messenger should also switch to the dark side. Reverse engineering expert Jane Manchun Wong announced on Twitter that Facebook is testing dark mode in the social media platform's messenger app. According to Wong, the darker mode is to be rolled out worldwide for all users with at least Android in the 10th version as the operating system and the following. And whoever follows Wong for a long time knows that her guesses are mostly correct. In Germany, the dark design is already available for Messenger.

Would you like to activate Dark Mode in Messenger? This is quite simple. In the app, tap your profile picture in the top left corner, then slide the night mode slider. Welcome to the dark side. It is still unclear when the darker layout in the regular Facebook app can be expected worldwide. But the test and the conversion of the Facebook Lite app to the darker interface suggest that the introduction of the dark mode will not be long in coming.
