How did Damian Wayne become Nightwing

Dick Grayson - Nightwing

The parents of Richard "Dick" Grayson were the Flying Graysons, acrobats who performed with him in the traveling Haly’s Circus. They were tragically murdered by a Gotham City gangster named Tony Zucco, and millionaire Bruce Wayne adopted him at a very young age. Grayson went through extensive martial arts and crime fighting training to become the original Robin, Batman's henchman.

Many years later, when he outgrew the position, he took the name and costume off Nightwing at. Jason Todd was his successor, followed by Tim Drake. As an adult, he even briefly became Batman to replace Bruce Wayne, along with Damian Wayne as his Robin. Since Bruce's return, they have also operated as part of Batman Incorporated. He was also a founding member and leader of the Teen Titans, and was with the Outsiders and currently in the Justice League of America. Dick Grayson was created by Bob Kane, Bill Finger, and Jerry Robinson and first appeared in Detective Comics (Vol 1) # 38 in 1940.

Important information: The DC Universe changed its continuity greatly after the events of Flashpoint in 2011, creating the new continuity, Prime Earth. This was part of an effort to make the storylines more accessible to newer readers and drastically changed the origins and stories of the characters. Because of this, there are two different articles to choose from here, each referring to a different continuity.
