Does Eating Bananas Help Someone Gain Energy?
Power fruits for more energy
There they are again: all the wonderful types of fruit we dreamed of in winter. Each piece not only pampers the palate, but also heals the body and soul.
Watermelon: good mood maker
Something sweet will lift the mood. This is not just what Ayurvedic nutrition says. A study by the University of South Alabama even shows that sweets can effectively and permanently relieve mood swings.
So that your guilty conscience doesn't thwart your plans, skip industrially produced sweets and feast on a salad made from persimmon, honeydew melon, ripe banana and watermelon. The special plus of the giant fruit: It contains a lot of manganese - a trace element that helps us feel fresh, active and in a good mood.
Kiwi: mood cannons
Depressive moods and the associated sleep problems are caused by a lack of the happiness messenger serotonin. An abundant supply of the amino acid tryptophan with food can naturally raise the serotonin level again, because the body converts tryptophan independently into the "happiness hormone" serotonin. Wild blueberries, kiwi, cranberries, lingonberries and plums contain a particularly large amount of this magic substance. But be careful: All depressive moods that do not resolve within two weeks are in need of treatment. So take good care of yourself.
Banana: power package
Most people have a lot to worry about and too acidic diets: too much sugar, white flour products, meat, coffee and alcohol. This stresses the body and deprives it of energy that it actually needed to strengthen the nerves. To test your acid-base balance, buy urine test strips from the pharmacy (50 pieces, approx. 4 euros). If your value is too acidic, eat a piece of particularly alkaline fruit before every meal: banana, apricot, pineapple, black currant or kiwi. And why not cook with these fruits again? Fried bananas and a curry with apricots and pineapple are also tasty in summer.
Fruits for the cycle
It has already been proven that eating fruit every day prevents a stroke. Dutch scientists have now investigated whether fruits of different colors provide different levels of protection. Research was carried out on the number of strokes that occurred for the first time in 20 069 people aged 41 on average. Participants had no cardiovascular disease at the start of the study.
A total of 233 strokes occurred within 10 years. The analysis of the data showed that a high consumption of fruits with white pulp reduced the risk of stroke by 52 percent - more than fruits of other colors. If that's not a reason to eat apple, pear or dragon fruit every day!
Down with the high blood pressure:
The kiwifruit has it all: 3 kiwis per day are even more effective in lowering blood pressure than 1 apple. This is what scientists at the University Hospital in Oslo found out. For the study, one group of the 118 test subjects ate 1 large apple a day for 2 months, the other 3 kiwis. The men and women were on average 55 years old and had slightly elevated blood pressure at the start of the study. The blood pressure fell in both groups - but much more in the kiwi eaters than in the apple group. The researchers suspect that they owed this to the radical scavenger lutein contained in kiwis.
Fruits for the immune system
Fruits, which contain a lot of carotenes, help prevent coughs and runny nose. These secondary plant substances color the fruits orange and are processed in the body into vitamin A, which strengthens the immune system. Mango, papaya, apricot, peach and nectarine are rich in carotene. If the cold has already broken out, vitamin C helps to get rid of it more quickly: Sip a hot lemon even on summer days. Basically pour the lemon juice into water that is only approx. 60 degrees warm. The healing ingredients of the citrus fruit are lost in hotter temperatures.
Cancer researcher T. Colin Campbell shows in his book "China Study" (Verlag Systemische Medizin, 423 pages, 29.80 euros) how the increased consumption of fruit and vegetables drastically reduces the risk of cancer - especially if we eat less meat at the same time , Eat fish, eggs and dairy products. The author provides figures that document that in areas of China, where almost no animal protein but only plant-based food is eaten, there are unusually few cancer cases.
In order to substantiate his observations, the scientist also demonstrated the prophylactic effect of fruit and vegetables in laboratory tests. Raspberries, blueberries and strawberries are particularly effective anti-cancer fruits. Also good: tropical fruits that contain a lot of vitamin C, for example orange and grapefruit.

Fruits for beautiful skin and hair
Fruit for a radiant complexion
Just 5 servings of fruit and vegetables per day are enough to achieve a fresh complexion within 4 weeks. This was the result of a study by Dr. Ian Stephen from Nottingham University. Tomato and carrot as the main course, apricot, peach and watermelon as dessert - that's how easy it is to achieve that coveted radiance. And that looks a lot more attractive than a tan.
Healthy skin, hair and nails
With dry, flaky skin and brittle fingernails and hair, the body needs an extra portion of vitamin C. If possible, from fresh fruit, because natural vitamin C is best used by the body. Vitamin C intercepts free radicals that the body forms from unhealthy diet, stress and environmental toxins that cause wrinkles. Apple, rose hips, kiwi and citrus fruits provide a particularly large amount of vitamin C.
Wrinkle killer strawberries
"Many types of fruit have an antioxidant protective effect on the skin and can even repair damaged collagens," says Dr. Michaela Axt-Gadermann. Correct nutrition can even "iron out" wrinkles! The best wrinkle killers are berries: blueberry, blackberry, strawberry, and raspberry. In winter, raisins, prunes and dried apricots help to keep skin youthful, velvety soft and plump.
Pure deep into the pores
Against acne and late acne (from 35 years) apricots, peaches, mango and other yellow-orange fruits provide plenty of vitamin A. This stabilizes the skin and allows it to heal. So that the body can use the helper vitamin efficiently and synthesize it more quickly, enjoy the fruit together with vitamin E (contained in hazelnuts and peanuts, for example).
Plums for the slim line
Feeling hungry to lose weight? Hardly anyone lasts long. More promising: eat as much fiber-rich fruit as you want. A fresh fig is a culinary revelation, and it's packed with digestive enzymes. Their high levels of fiber fill you up for a long time. The latter also applies to plums, mirabelle plums and Reneklode. This stone fruit also acts like a natural vitamin B pill (nerve vitamin). And those who want to lose weight can really use good nerves.
Pineapple for a good digestion and a toned figure
Pineapple clears up the stomach and intestines. The enzyme bromelain, which is abundant in pineapples, breaks down protein and supports digestion. The plant pigment anthocyanin, which colors a cherry wonderfully red, has an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effect. This is how cherries help the body to build up new connective tissue.
Beauty effect: the skin stays nice and tight and plumped during and after losing weight. But cherries can do even more: They also work against gout. A study from Boston / USA shows that 2 servings of cherries with 10 fruits each day reduce the risk of getting a gout attack by a whopping 35 percent.
"Organic fruit has more vitamins"
Prof. Dr. Michaela Axt-Gadermann teaches health promotion at the Coburg University of Applied Sciences
VITAL: Does our body actually get what it needs? Do we automatically have an appetite for the fruits that are currently good for us?
Prof. Axt-Gadermann: Unconscious mechanisms lead us to have an appetite for what we lack. These regulatory mechanisms work primarily for carbohydrates, fats and proteins. When it comes to vitamins, trace elements and secondary plant substances, someone should be very sensitive to the body.
First of all, it is important to consume “greens” at all. Even with conventionally grown fruits, nobody has to fear damage, but mostly seasonal products are less polluted. The higher price for organic fruits is justified: studies show that organic fruits have a much higher content of vitamins, antibacterial colorants and antioxidants.
Should we also eat purely regionally and seasonally in winter?
Only stored apples would be available to us. You can also grab tropical fruits and exotic species. And eat frozen berries more often in winter. They often have more healthy ingredients than the fresh ones.
Are smoothies really as healthy miracle weapons as the advertising would lead us to believe?
Smoothies from the supermarket are a useful addition, but not a permanent substitute for fresh fruit. Because they contain less fiber because the peel is removed. Much better is a self-mixed smoothie in which you also use the bowl. Tastes great for breakfast or during the afternoon break!
Particularly are also suitable Wild berries for smoothies. They spice up every mix, are incredibly healthy and easy to find in nature.
