1. Babbel - language trainer

With the popular online software Babbel you can learn up to fourteen different languages online. The language level of the courses varies from A1 to B1 of the "Common European Framework of Reference" (GER). By taking many small intermediate tests that promote interactive learning, you can receive a certificate after completing the respective course. This certificate contains all the information about your course content as well as the course level you passed. The e-learning platform is now known worldwide, but such a certificate is not considered an internationally recognized language test and should be listed as follows:

  • In the curriculum vitae: Mention the language course including level information under the heading "Other"
  • In the application folder: Do not enclose the certificate directly, but only submit it after a specific request
  • You haven't created a résumé yet? Here you can create your résumé clearly online

2. Internationally respected language tests

The three most important tests for the English language include the TOEFL, IELTS and Cambridge tests. In the French language, the DELF exam dominates. These standardized and internationally recognized language tests are primarily intended to test and evaluate the foreign language skills of non-native speakers. After completing such a test, you will receive a certificate that is recognized, among other things, as an admission requirement for foreign universities. So if you've done one of these tests, it's still valid and your result is better than “good”, then we advise you:

  • In the résumé: information on the language test including the number of points under the heading "Additional qualifications"
  • In the application folder: Enclose the certificate directly, if qualification is required, otherwise submit it on request

And what is your language level?

A1You form simple sentences and make statements about yourself
A2You make yourself understood in everyday life and take part in conversations
B1You can have conversations and write them flawlessly
B2You have complex, day-to-day conversations with native speakers
C1You understand sophisticated literature and idioms
C2

You can hold expert discussions at native speaker level

3. Microsoft Office certification

Microsoft Office skills are more in demand these days than ever and are named as a prerequisite for job vacancies in a wide variety of industries. Various Microsoft courses including certification are offered so that you can also master MS Office applications optimally in the future. In the “Microsoft Office Specialist” course you will learn, among other things, the correct use of the various MS Office programs such as Excel, Powerpoint, Word, etc. At the end of the course, the skills you have gained will be tested in a performance-oriented test. By successfully completing it, you will then receive your official MS Office certification. If you are now swiping through the next job advertisements and reading the addition "Good Microsoft Office user skills desired", then the following has to be done:

  • In the curriculum vitae: Mention course participation and certificate under the heading “Additional qualifications” or create your own category called “Further training”
  • In the application folder: Enclose the certificate directly (if qualification is not required directly, then only submit the certificate on request)

4. MOOC - Massive Open Online Course

Popular e-learning platforms such as “Coursera”, “edX” or “Iversity” offer further options for Internet-based training. Here, university courses are made available online for everyone, so that the range of courses including confirmation of participation is available free of charge. Although these courses are not a substitute for a degree or specialist training, you can expand your knowledge depending on your personal or professional interests. After participating in such a course and successfully passing a final test, you will receive your corresponding certificate. Since these online courses have already achieved a high level of recognition internationally, we recommend:

  • In the curriculum vitae: Mention course participation including final grade in the section "Other"
  • In the application folder: Do not enclose the certificate directly, but only submit it after a specific request

5. SAP systems, applications, products

The SAP program is a software product that helps companies carry out business processes. Courses on this program are offered, for example, by the Austrian Economic Development Institute. There are a total of six modules that can be completed one after the other or at the same time, whereby you receive an internationally recognized certificate after completing each course module. Since the qualifications imparted in the courses are becoming more and more important these days, we advise you:

  • In the résumé: Mention course participation and certificate under the heading “Additional qualifications” or create your own category called “Further training”
  • In the application folder: Enclose the certificate directly if you want a qualification (e.g. in the IT area), otherwise submit it on request
