Why do band aids smell so bad

How to properly care for your product

Bandages

Orientate yourself to ours Washing instructionsto avoid a smelly situation:

Many bandages on the market are made of neoprene - a synthetic material used in diving suits - or similar materials. Neoprene does not "breath" and binds sweat, which leads to an unpleasant odor and provides a playground for bacteria.

Bauerfeind products are different because they are made from high-quality knitted material. Knitted bandages are more durable, wick away moisture and can be easily washed in the washing machine.

  • Machine wash with cold / lukewarm water (~ 30 ° C) on a gentle or delicate cycle
  • Wash with similar colors, normal detergent and without fabric softener
  • If your product has a Velcro fastener (like the ankle support), please make sure that it is not attached to the knitted fabric, but to the same type of material (fastener on fastener, tape on tape).
  • If possible, remove the pads before washing
  • After washing, lay flat to air dry, DO NOT tumble dry!
  • We recommend using a laundry net for washing.

Please do not make any changes to the product. Follow our instructions for use and care. These are based on years of experience and ensure that our medically effective products fulfill their purpose for a long time.

After all, only perfect-looking bandages will help you. Failure to observe the instructions can also reduce the warranty claim.

  • Avoid contact with ointments, lotions, and any substances that contain fats and acids.
  • Never expose the support to direct heat (e.g. on radiators, in sunlight, in your car, etc.)! This can damage the material and thus reduce the effectiveness of the product.
  • To avoid damaging the bandages, do not turn them inside out.
