Strongly increased risk worldwide - TRAVEL WARNING due to the COVID-19 pandemic

Due to the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19) apply Travel warnings for most countries in the world. As of May 19, 2021, Andorra, Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Iceland, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Switzerland, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, South Korea, Czech Republic, Hungary and the Vatican.

Since May 19, 2021, people who have been vaccinated, tested or recovered (the "3G") can in principle enter Austria. Depending on the country of residence before entry, the amended entry ordinance of the Federal Ministry for Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection provides for special provisions:

Entry from a country listed in Appendix A (i.e. those countries for which no travel warning applies, see above):
⇒ Pre-travel clearance max. 72 hours before entry (see form in German and English)
⇒ One of the following certificates in German or English: PCR test (max. 72h old), antigen test (max. 48h old), vaccination certificate, recovery certificate
⇒ If none of the evidence is available: PCR or antigen test within 24 hours

Entry from a country listed in Appendix B1 (Croatia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Sweden, Cyprus):
⇒ Pre-travel clearance max. 72 hours before entry
⇒ if vaccination or recovery certificate is presented: no quarantine
⇒ if PCR or antigen test is presented: 10-day quarantine, free testing only from day 5

Entry from a country listed in Appendix B2 (Brazil, India, South Africa)
⇒ Existence of a reason for exception (otherwise entry prohibited)
⇒ Pre-travel clearance max. 72 hours before entry
⇒ 10-day quarantine, free tests only from day 5 (limited exceptions possible)

Entry from another area (all countries not listed in Annex A, B1 or B2):
⇒ Existence of a reason for exception (otherwise entry prohibited)
⇒ Pre-travel clearance max. 72 hours before entry (see form in German and English)
⇒ if vaccination or recovery certificate is presented: no quarantine
⇒ if PCR or antigen test is presented: 10-day quarantine, free testing only from day 5

 

Special rules apply, among other things, to the entry of children, commuters and people who travel with families for reasons that are particularly worthy of consideration.
