Prince Philip, husband of the British Queen Elizabeth II, is dead. The Duke of Edinburgh died peacefully at Windsor Castle on Friday morning, announced Buckingham Palace in London.

Prince Philip died at the age of 99

Philip had had a heart operation a few weeks ago in a specialist clinic and had spent several weeks in the hospital. He was released home in mid-March, where he died at the age of 99. He would have celebrated his 100th birthday in June.
