How do I install an outdoor antenna

installation

Step 1: Connect the antenna

First, connect the antenna to the DVB-T2 HD receiver. This is the round cable with the pen in the middle. This cable is called a "coaxial cable". If you have a receiver integrated in the television, connect the cable directly to the television. The socket is usually called "Aerial" or "Ant".

Step 2: Connect the TV

Nowadays the standard connection for televisions: the HDMI socket. Simply use an HDMI cable to connect the HDMI socket on the receiver to the socket on the television. Image and sound are transmitted in the best quality via this connection. This step is not necessary if you are using a receiver integrated in the television. Please now also connect the receiver to the mains using the power supply unit supplied.

Step 3: connect older TVs

Older televisions without an HDMI connection can be connected using the so-called SCART cable. Then you will not have HD picture quality, but many DVB-T2 HD receivers still offer this option of analog picture and sound transmission. When buying the DVB-T2 HD receiver, make sure that it has a SCART output. You then do not need an HDMI cable.

Step 4: Select the image source on the television

Use the remote control of the TV to select the HDMI socket as the signal source. You can do this with the "Source" or "AV" button or the small box with the arrow. This works the same with newer and older televisions. For older devices, select "AV in" or "SCART" as the signal source. This step is also not necessary if you are using a receiver integrated in the television.

Step 5: Activate antenna power supply

Switch on the DVB-T2 HD receiver. Important for active indoor antennas without their own power pack: Activate the power supply for the antenna with the remote control in the menu of the DVB-T2 HD receiver. Often called "antenna feed" or "Ant. Power". When switching on for the first time, many devices ask whether you should activate the power supply. Instructions for selected devices can be found here.

Step 6: set up and align the antenna

In order to find the optimal installation location for your antenna, it is best to have the receiver display the signal strength. Reception is usually poor near electrical appliances. But all the better near the window.

Step 7: Perform a station search

Look for the item "Automatic station search" in the menu of the DVB-T2 HD receiver if your device has not already carried out a station search on its own. Instructions for selected devices can be found here.

Have fun looking

After confirming everything, you can watch TV as before. You can adjust the volume and program selection with the remote control of the receiver.
