How do I get fluent in latex

Leave the archive and display this page in the standard design: pictures in latex, as in Word

Hello!

I've been facing the same problem for 2 days. I want to insert pictures in latex.

Which package is the easiest to do this? Have all the packages and the associated manuals through ..

I want it to look like Word.
The graphic should stand in the text with a signature. Not more.

Can someone please give me some code that will do that.
No frame. Simple picture with signature flowing in the text

Many Thanks!

You mean that the picture is in the text? So also text to the left and right of it?

Or do you just want the code so that a picture is inserted with a caption and no text around it? It would be like this:

In the preamble:

% Integration of graphics
\ usepackage [pdftex] {graphicx}
\ usepackage {float}% for better positioning of graphics
\ graphicspath {{path specification /}}% enables all graphics to be stored in a central directory

In the document part:

% Graphic
\ begin {figure} [htbp]% graphic placement: here, top, bottom, or page
\ centering
\ includegraphics [width = 5cm, height = 5cm, keepaspectratio] {filename.jpg}
\ caption {caption}
\ label {brand}
\ end {figure}
% End of graphic

In this example the file is in the same directory as your tex file!

Is it working?

Hello!

I think this could help you:

especially Bischi's PDF

Hello Sebbi!

What does "float" mean? What kind of special package is that? What are the differences to normal pasting?

Thanks,

Christoph.

Hello!

Please have a look at the PDF from the link I posted (10 posts from above). I'm not a professional either, but it's very well explained!

Ah, thanks. I will read through at times.

Ciao.
Take a look at l2picfaq (ftp://dante.ctan.org/tex-archive/info/l2picfaq/german/l2picfaq.pdf) - why should you realize when you read something about Post in the thread linked by sebbi # 10 (where you also get to read a lot about the use of float (or rather: why not)).

BTW:

Why do you ask? You have float in the preamble ...
Kind regards,

Hello Rais,

have read through all the pdf's. Everywhere it's very easy to explain, but my result so far doesn't look what I want.

It doesn't work in the front or in the back ...

Many Thanks!

have read through all the pdf's. Everywhere it's very easy to explain, but my result so far doesn't look what I want.

how exactly should it look now? Image flowing in text or even image flowed around by text?

And don't you think wrapfig is something for you?
Kind regards,

Hello!

It is so...
If you insert a picture in Word then you can choose "suitable" for properties. Then you can move it back and forth in the text and it is always appropriate in the text.

It should simply be in the desired place in the picture. The text should flow normally over, next to, under.

With warp, it somehow didn't work.
Can you give me a code with which you think it will work.
Inserting a picture normally is not a problem, then it is centered and no text far and wide.

Have e.g. the problem that the picture caption, if it is long, simply goes under the normal text and is not halved

Subtitle: Comparison of tap water and distilled water
Size: width 4 cm
No frame

Can also send the thesis by email. Have not come any further for 2 days because of this

Many Thanks

Mon moin,
so maybe?

\ documentclass {scrartcl}
\ usepackage {blindtext, graphicx, wrapfig}
\ begin {document}
\ begin {wrapfigure} {r} {41mm}
\ rule {4cm} {1cm}
\ caption {Comparison of tap water and distilled water}
\ end {wrapfigure}
\ dummy text
\ end {document}

i.e. if the picture is supposed to _here_ anyway, why don't you just take a minipage with a picture and \ captionof in it? For \ captionof see caption package.
Kind regards,

Good Morning,

can you please give me a code or some help for this mini page.
Do not understand exactly what that is?

Hello again,

tried it with your code:
http://www.proprintgmbh.com/22.jpg

I also don't understand why the caption is automatically adapted to the picture in all of the help pdf's, i.e. automatically separated so that the caption is the same width as the picture.

For me, the caption is under the normal text or out of the paper. ?!?!

Take a look at this pdf. Is a pdf for PicIns. There is a signed picture on page 8 and that's exactly how I want it!

My preamble to that

\ documentclass [pdftex, a4paper, 12pt, parskip] {scrartcl}

\ usepackage [ngerman] {babel}
\ usepackage [latin1] {inputenc}
\ usepackage [T1] {fontenc}

\ usepackage {picins}
\ usepackage {floatflt}
\ usepackage {dummy text, wrapfig}

\ usepackage {amsmath}
\ usepackage {listings}

% DIN 1421 margins

lmargin = 4.00cm, rmargin = 2.00cm, tmargin = 1.5cm, bmargin = 2cm
] {geometry}

% PDF settings
\ usepackage [colorlinks = true,
linkcolor = black,

pdftitle = {thesis from the subject chemistry},
pdfsubject = {fire and ice},
pdfkeywords = {Luitpold Gymnasium Munich},

urlcolor = blue,
pdfstartview = FitH
] {hyperref}

\ pdfimageresolution = 288
\ pdfcompresslevel = 9

% Line height as 1.5 times the character height
\ usepackage {setspace}
\ onehalfspacing

% Fonts
\ renewcommand {\ familydefault} {phv}

Good Morning,

I also don't understand why the caption is automatically adapted to the picture in all of the help pdf's, i.e. automatically separated so that the caption is the same width as the picture.

As far as I understand the matter so far: when using the corresponding sliding environment `figure´, the caption is indeed adapted to the image width (if it goes beyond that, then it is in all probability due to inseparable terms). For images that are integrated with wrapfigure, however, the caption is adapted to the width provided by the wrapfigure (and also specified there).
Anyway, what you could try:

\ documentclass {scrartcl}
\ usepackage {blindtext, graphicx, wrapfig}
\ usepackage {caption}
\ begin {document}
\ begin {wrapfigure} {r} {41mm}
\ rule {4cm} {1cm}
\ caption {Comparison of tap water and distilled water}
\ end {wrapfigure}
\ dummy text
\ end {document}

By using the caption package, the broken line (s) of the figure caption should be left-justified with "figure" (or whatever your \ figurename is called) - and no longer as it is with \ usepackage [format = hang] {caption} would be the case (and by default it is probably too).
Kind regards,

Hello paperboy,

you can also somehow reduce your technical work a little and post it here as a minimal example (use SuFu). I honestly do not understand your problem and that is not the best way to help.

PS I don't feel like guessing
